Charles Hotson Ebden was a pastoralist, entrepreneur and Victoria’s first Auditor-General.
He built Black Rock House in 1856 for his wife Tamar Harding.
It is believed the holiday house was named Black Rock House after the town in Ireland where Tamar lived.
The house was originally on 122 acres.
The castellated walls, it is now known for, were built from rock quarried at Quiet Corner at Black Rock Beach.Â
In the pages of this book you will discover the history of Black Rock House, the people with whom it has been linked and the voices of its spirits and paranormal activities.
The book, developed by the Friends of Black Rock House follows the facts, the fictions and the story of this local icon.
Beautifully illustrated and designed to spark interest in this unique building and its continued conservation.
